PBQ’s Charity Donation Guidelines

Charity Quilts

This list is organized by recipient with the organizations receiving the quilts and the quilt dimensions requested by the organization.

           Children

  • NICU at Brigham & Women's Hospital welcomes all donations for newborns and preemies.

Teens, Adults, and Veterans

  • Catholic Charities: Twin size quilts are preferred with a minimum size of 60 x 80 inches

  • Till Independent Residence needs 12 quilts each year.

  • Quilts of Valor has unlimited need. Visit Quilts of Valor website for instructions on making quilts for veterans.

    Animals

  • Boston Animal Shelter in Roslindale and other local shelters have unlimited need for crate mats and exam table mats.

PBQ General Size Guidelines for Donation Quilts

  • Newborn/preemie: 24 x 24 inches to 30 x 30 inches

  • Child: 36-40 wide x 45-60 inches long

  • Wheelchair: 30-36 inches wide x 30-40 inches long

  • Adult lap quilt: 50 x 60 inches

  • Twin bed quilt: 60 x 80 inches

  • Full size bed quilt: 80 x 80 inches or larger

  • Animal mats for shelters:

    • Cats and ferrets: 12 x 18 inches

    • Dogs: 24 x 30 inches

    • Exam table mats: 30 x 36 inches


Charity Pillowcases

Unlimited need for children and adults. There are many tutorials on YouTube for making pillow cases. Choose a method you like. For children’s cases, use a youthful print with cheerful colors. Flannel is appropriate along with woven cotton.
